LiveParty with Hyperion Ensemble & Marisol Martinez
and joint dance by the teacher couples.
The Hyperion Ensemble was founded in 1992 as an ensemble interested in performing contemporary music; from the outset it has focussed intensively on the Piazzolla repertoire, and on Tango in general.
Since 2009, the orchestra has been playing a broad repertoire of traditional tango for the dancers.
The orchestra composes its original arrangements to be very close to the traditional orchestration of the ‘golden age’ of tango, because it is important to them that the music is 100% danceable.
The dance floor is always full of animated dancers, dancing to the ensemble’s adaptations of traditional tangos, as well as to the ensemble’s own compositions.
A distinctive feature of the Hyperion Ensemble is the presence of the flute in its organic form, as it was played in the first tango orchestras at the end of the 19th century, before the advent of the bandoneon. It enriches the arrangements and brings us back to the roots.

The popular singer Marisol Martinez will be singing with the Hyperion Ensemble in Basel.
Well-known as the former lead singer of the ‘Romantico Milongueros’ orchestra, her smoky voice and sensual, self-confident charisma will also make the evening something special.
